Rooted in Ohkay Owingeh

Our Story

Owingeh Aerial Drone Works LLC grew out of the opportunities, skills, and support I received through Northern New Mexico College and the programs connected to it.

I am a student at Northern New Mexico College, and a major part of this journey began when I participated in the Northern Stewards Summer Field School. Northern Stewards was a collaboration involving Northern New Mexico College and Simtable, with support from Indian Resources Development. Through that experience, I was introduced to hands-on work involving drones, mapping, geospatial technology, modeling, and tools that showed how technology can be used to better understand land, projects, and communities.

Those experiences helped me see that the skills I was learning could be turned into something useful for the people and communities around me. Over time, that idea became Owingeh Aerial Drone Works LLC.

I am especially grateful to Steve Cox at Northern New Mexico College for his mentorship, guidance, and continued support. I also want to thank Kasra Manavi and Stephen Guerin at Simtable for the time, knowledge, and encouragement they have shared with me. Their help played an important role in building the skills and confidence that helped make this business possible.

I am also thankful to Indian Resources Development for helping support programs and opportunities that give Native American students access to education, professional development, and hands-on experiences in technology, engineering, natural resources, and business.

This business is independent, but it was shaped by the people, programs, and organizations that invested their time in helping me learn. I am very grateful for everyone who helped me reach this point, and I am excited to use the skills I have learned to serve Ohkay Owingeh, Española, and the surrounding communities.

Being based in the Española and Ohkay Owingeh area gives us local familiarity with the landscape and helps us approach each project with practical planning and awareness of the area.

Certified, Insured, and Safety-Focused

Owingeh Aerial Drone Works LLC operates with FAA Part 107-certified drone pilots and insured drone operations. Each flight is planned around airspace, weather, site conditions, safety, and the needs of the project.

We focus on responsible flight practices and professional communication from the first conversation through final delivery.
